Famous African American Glue Prints

This lesson works great if you're school does a Black History Month Assembly or celebration.  Each student chose an influential African American out of a hat.  They were given a contour drawing of their person- similar to a coloring book page.

I stressed to the students that it may take more than one try for a good one but not to worry!  THey really enjoyed this process!  Lastly the students had to write their paragraph along the border of their picture.  This turned the words into part of the design!  On the day of the assembly, 5 students were chosen to go on stage and read their paragraphs while displaying their artwork.  THis was a wonderful and informative addition to the assembly!  I love when other subjects can be incorporated into the arts!
